ARTIST STATEMENT
We all knew that kid in elementary school that was “too much” - too much fire, too many feelings, needed to “use their words.” Yeah, that was me.
Still is, I suppose.
I’ve studied under a lot of gifted artists with varied methodology - charcoal, acrylic, oil, watercolor, blind-folded, left-handed, upside-down. They taught me how to weave a story with a brushstroke, cry in acrylic paint, and tell someone how much they mean to me with a picture. Maybe that just makes me the kid telling the teacher words are overrated.
Or maybe that makes me an artist.
I certainly hope to merit the title one day.
WORK WITH THE ARTIST
Drawing on the counter-cultural French impressionists, the icons of Latin American Magical Realism, and nostalgia for my hometown in the Sierra Nevada, I work primarily as a landscape painter in acrylics on canvas, with additional work in oils, watercolors, and pastels.
I first began commissioning after college, and have since worked with clients across the country, from California to New York.
